Today the Prime Minister has called a General Election on 4th July.
It would be an incredible honour to represent the people of Tamworth and the villages in Parliament. I have always liked Tamworth but since I was selected as the Conservative parliamentary candidate, I have grown to love this area. I have met hundreds of people, community organisations and businesses from the Leyfields to Little Aston, Hockley to Haunton and Stonydelph to Shenstone - Tamworth and the villages is made of amazing communities and I know that many people want to represented by someone who appreciates the areas historic past and wants to make our town and villages the best they can be.
And I am ready to fight to represent the people of Tamworth and the villages and I’ve already been working hard to make progress on what people have told me are their priorities:
- I’m working to bring the derelict George Bryan Centre back into use to provide healthcare for local people.
- Tamworth has been given over £20million by this Conservative government, which will transform the town into a thriving area which promotes our great heritage and futureproofs our high street.
- We’ve now got 333 extra police officers across Staffordshire and just yesterday the local force was recognised for its improvements and focus on community police - now we need to get more officers recruited to keep Staffordshire safe
Residents need access to reliable mobile phone and broadband coverage and that’s why I’ve been campaigning alongside residents and meeting with network providers to roll out coverage across the constituency
- Thanks to government investment we’re getting a brand new state-of-the-art college in the town and I’m continuing to work with businesses and leaders to ensure we have the best opportunities for our young people.
Over the weeks ahead, I look forward to speaking to as many of you as possible in the hope of securing your support in this election.
