I was delighted to hear that His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary, Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) has noted several improvements in the service provided by Staffordshire Police.
I understand there has been a noticeable improvement in pursuing and bringing offenders to justice, with the current outcome rate now one of the best rates in the country. This has been achieved by the move back to a local policing approach, which has seen stop and search rates increase by 20 per cent and arrest rates up by 18 per cent. This back-to-basics approach has also seen the force maintain response times to Grade One (emergency) calls.
There is still much more to do, but I wish Chief Constable, Chris Noble, and his team all the best as they strive for ongoing improvements.
I have no doubt Ben Adams – Staffordshire Police, Fire & Rescue and Crime Commissioner will be closely monitoring the force's performance on behalf of the communities of Staffordshire to ensure that this momentum is maintained.
