I joined Tamworth Brough Council Leader, Cllr Thomas Jay to get an update on the Future High Streets Fund project - with over £40million invested to transform our town centre!
Demolition work is now due to commence on vacant units from the former jewellery store to the former Timpsons, paving the way for a brand-new, flexible multi-use building tailored for independent small businesses and a new town ‘town square’ area.
Remedial works on Market Street properties have also begun, working closely with Historic England to preserve our town's rich heritage. The Leader gave his assurance that these properties from the 1700s will be protected.
Throughout this process, the Council are working with local market traders to ensure alternative pitches are available for those affected by the construction.
Although disruption is expected - the town centre and market are open for business. So, please continue to support local businesses and market traders.
