I know how disruptive potholes can be across Tamworth and the villages, which is why I was delighted to see the Government and Staffordshire County Council, committing more funds for pothole repairs.
In March of this year the County Council announced that an additional £30m is to be invested in maintaining and improving Staffordshire highways over the next two years.
Then, in November, the Government announced it would commit an additional £186million for road improvements in Staffordshire, following the cancellation of HS2, over the next 11 years.
But as a civil engineer, I know it's not just about how much you spend, but also how efficiently you do the repairs. So I was keen to highlight the effectiveness of JCB's Pothole Pro, which can apparently repair a pothole in as little as 8 mins!
Crews from Staffordshire County Council began training on the new machine in July, and I'm hoping we see this great locally-developed product in use on roads across the whole of the country.
