Today commemorates the 80th anniversary of the Normandy Landings on 6 June 1944.
Also known as D-Day, the historic operation saw the Allied Forces mount a large-scale invasion of Nazi-occupied France that ultimately tipped the course of the Second World War in the favour of the UK and our Allies.
Thousands of men gave their lives on the beaches of Normandy and today we reflect on the bravery and sacrifice of those who served for our country.
Their intrepidness and valour shaped our history and should be a source of inspiration for us today.
